Nova Scotia has some of the highest rates of cancer in the country. The number of new cases continues to rise steadily as our population ages and so does the demand for affordable lodging while receiving cancer treatment. Since opening its doors in 1990, almost 24,000 Nova Scotians have turned to The Dr Susan K. Roberts Lodge That Gives.

Currently fully funded by donor dollars, The Canadian Cancer Society - Nova Scotia Division appreciates each and every donor who has made the Sobey Cancer Support Centre and The Dr Susan K. Roberts Lodge That Gives possible. Because of our donors, the Sobey Cancer Support Centre will be a beacon of light to Nova Scotia families and a true partner for Nova Scotian patients during their cancer journey.

Meet our Generous Donors

Whether a multi-million dollar gift or the results of a local bake sale, each dollar contributed to the Canadian Cancer Society - Nova Scotia Division supports patients living with cancer by providing support, programs, research or accommodations. The new expansion of The Dr Susan K. Roberts Lodge That Gives would not be possible without these donors.

Major Gifts

Every day, 17 Nova Scotians will hear the words “you have cancer.” Whether you live in Yarmouth, Sydney or somewhere in between, as a donor or corporate sponsor, you can be certain your gift will make a difference to someone who has just learned they have cancer in each community across Nova Scotia.

Volunteer With Us

Our programs and services offered at the Canadian Cancer Society are primarily run by dedicate, skilled and passionate volunteers. We frequently have positions available, and invite anyone interested to visit our website through the link below, for an update list of opportunities. Volunteer jobs at the Society are both challenging and rewarding, we offer a comprehensive orientation and ongoing support to all volunteers and require all new volunteers to complete a screening and intake process.
